Information we collect
We do not operate user accounts, and we do not run analytics or advertising trackers in this app. Information you enter — VINs you decode, checklist answers, photos you attach, cars you save to My List — is stored only in your own browser using local storage on your device. It is never sent to our servers, because there are none: this is a static app.
Third-party services
When you decode a VIN or check recalls, your VIN or vehicle details are sent directly from your browser to the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) public APIs (vpic.nhtsa.dot.gov and api.nhtsa.gov) to retrieve the information you requested. Their handling of that request is governed by their own policies.
Contacting us
If you use the inspection request form, your email app opens with a pre-filled message addressed to us. Anything you include in that email is sent by you, through your own email provider, when you choose to send it.
Your choices
You can clear everything the app has stored at any time by clearing your browser's site data for this address. Because your data lives only on your device, deleting it there deletes it everywhere.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new revision date.
